Where we stayed for our Irish holidays:

These photographs do not show the beautiful setting of the cottages. From the cottages it is a 1 minute walk to the Galtee Mountains.
We made walks nearly every day and we did see more then "just" nature;
From here one can take the car and drive to the other side of the Glenn of Aherlow and walk the hills there.
History is down the road with Peacoun church (ruin) and Peacaun well. Much more history in

Want more? Take the car and drive to the Silvermine Mountains or Bunratty and more.
Cities like Limmerick, Cork and Waterford are within an hours drive. Nearby are Cahir (5 minutes or so) and Tipperay (about 12 minutes).
Dublin is less then 2.5 hours drive over the new M8/7.
